Black Friday

No shopping today for me on black Friday... too broke! I hate crowds anyway, so it's all good. Were cutting way back this year and spending a lot less. Were really pretty fortunate here and were just spending this holiday being thankful!

We had a really good day yesterday. Woke up early. When I woke I had some "acid" free coffee. It's been giving me a hell of a buzz. By 7:30 yesterday morning I was waking everyone up cause I was WIDE awake from the coffee buzz. LOL I made breakfast, cleaned that up and we headed into the movies for the noon showing of Four Christmases. It was funny! We all liked it and laughed a lot. Great holiday flick! Every time I go to the movies I feel sick after. I guess it's the "mind less" eating while watching a movie. I hardly ate anything but when we got home I layed down for 20-30 minutes and that nauseous feeling passed- thank goodness. I had 6 cherry sours pieces, 1 square of Hershey chocolate, 4 Whoppers and a few bites of popcorn. A handful of snacks but toooooo much sugar at one time. Not a lot compared to the boxes I used to eat sitting through a movie, but still enough to send me to the bathroom and RALPH after I got home. Just gonna have to skip the snacks at the movies and just eat a bit of popcorn cause it never works out. After 3pm I put together a wonderful lasagna. I asked the family what they wanted for dinner and they said "your lasagna mom". We ate about 6pm. It was soooooo good. I ate a square of lasagna about the size of your palm and 1/2 piece of bread. I made a pumpkin pie and I also had a sliver of that later in the night. And this morning i still weighed what I did yesterday so that is good.

Watched movies all day and the 3 of us had a great day! When I went to bed last night I felt happy and went to bed with a smile.

Today I'm taking Jonathan and a friend to the movies (again). On Tuesday I will have a 15 year old. So today is the day he is having a friend over and there going to see Twilight and hanging out all day. While the boys are @ the movies I thought Derrel, Rufus and I could take a walk on the beach by the ocean and work off yesterdays food. :)

I am thankful for my family and my health!

LIFE IS GOOD!

1999

I found this old picture in my computer. I'm hiding behind Derrel so you can't see how big I am. I was always told I had a pretty face if I just could lose some weight.

Anyway... I thought it was cute. Jon looks like a elf. he he

It's so small cause I must of scanned it years ago.

Living in 2008

YOU KNOW YOU ARE LIVING IN 2008

when...

1. You accidentally enter your password on the microwave.
2. You haven't played solitaire with real cards in years.
3. You have a list of 15 phone numbers to reach your family of 3.
4. You e-mail the person who works at the desk next to you.
5. Your reason for not staying in touch with friends and family is that they don't have e- mail addresses.
6. You pull up in your own driveway and use your cell phone to see if anyone is home to help you carry in the groceries.
7. Every commercial on television has a web site at the bottom of the screen.
8. Leaving the house without your cell phone, which you didn't have the first 20 or 30 (or 60) years of your life, is now a cause for panic and you turn around to go and get it.
10. You get up in the morning and go on line before getting your coffee.
11. You start tilting your head sideways to smile.: )
12 You're reading this and nodding and laughing.
13. Even worse, you know exactly to whom you are going to forward this message.
14. You are too busy to notice there was no #9 on this list.
15. You actually scrolled back up to check that there wasn't a #9 on this list AND NOW YOU ARE LAUGHING at yourself.

Go on, forward this to your friends. You know you want to.

Green Tea

I'm trying hard to find a green tea I enjoy the same as I enjoy a cup o coffee or espresso. I found a zen green tea I love. And today while passing Starbucks I got a blended green tea. Yummy! Dr Rutledge says' coffee is a no no for us. *You lucky RNY patients sucking down your coffees guilt free*. One of the differences between a RNY patient and a MGB patient is at the connection and where that connection is connected to the bowel. Dr. R stresses over and over about the MGB and WLS and the big concern for ulcers and the risks you should understand. The acids in coffee's and tea's kill the "good" things in your tummy. We should NOT drink coffee, smoke, drink alcohol, take aspirin, some medications and such. His opinion... his words... and if you do these things you'll most likely be back to see him someday with a bleeding ulcer or some complication. Straight forward, to the point. Eat things that are good for the gut. Such as yogurt everyday, whole wheat, fiber and GREEN TEA. We can have all the green tea we want with his blessing. It's good for the gut and good for you.

OK I LOVE COFFEE. This has been a hard one for me the past few months. Just as I thought 2 years ago- i miss it. I still want it just as bad as I did 2 years ago. Doesn't mean I'll never sip coffee again but I want to find a green tea I love for my everyday cup I enjoy. I'm still trying to find the right green tea that's yummy. Any suggestions on brands, yummy green tea's you may love - please share. I go to the store and stare at all the brand of tea and wonder which one to buy. There is a big difference between good coffee and crappy coffee's for sure. So which one do I buy and I'm so confused. LOL Are all tea's created equally? Do I buy the cheap one, the cute one, the expensive one????? So like I said share your favorites with me. PLEASE :) And yes I'll take sugar with my green tea.

Today the blended green tea minus the whip @ Starbucks was a nice change from the warm zen. And it's was even green. LOL I enjoyed it! And it was good for me. TRY IT!

GREEN BEANS

I love Green beans! (No, I do not eat all these beans on my plate here. I eat about half the green beans and 1/3 of the rice and a half of cup of soup before the meal.) This is one meal I don't save as a left over as the green beans get soft and soggy when you nuke them later. I always share with my hubby. So here is a picture of me with my new favorite thing to eat. 2 years ago I did not order the green beans. My order then was sweet and sour chicken. That's yucky now. Now I hate the grease and heavy fried breading around it. blah

Give me a plate of greens and I'm good to go and satisfied now...

mmmmmmm and there yummy!

and i think i look old in this picture. blah

I still can pick apart any photo of me. silly huh!

good grief i feel broke...

swimming yesterday

I did get off my butt yesterday and go to the pool. Anyway...just wanted to share this little ta da moment I had there yesterday. It was time to get out of the pool and I wanted to stretch my hip out some as it still gives me trouble. Anyway, I was on the side of the pool and I thought I wonder if I can lift myself out of the pool rather than use the steps. Never ever, ever, ever have I been able to lift myself out of the pool with my arms. NEVER

I put my back to the side of the pool and I lifted myself out of the pool and I was sitting on the side. :)

Silly to some, BIG to me! It put a smile on my face!

Ug

It's only been 2-3 weeks that I haven't been working. Now that the farmers markets are closed my job came to a end. Looking but not working. I hate that "looking" part. My job was physical and I sure can tell I'm not moving the same right now. Anyway... just in a few weeks I can already tell I'm getting thicker. Weight is the same (147-149) but the pants are fitting different already. That puts big fear in my head, crazy thoughts, worry and my mind races thinking of getting heavy again. I can't go buy a size 4 and fit into them a few times and grow out of them. It's crazy. This is going to be a life long battle. I so wish I could spend my older years relaxing and not think about my weight all the time. But this is my battle and it may be tough sometimes but I have to get my head in the right places and relax some. I'm feeling obsessed with gaining weight back. It's either going to drive me nuts or I have to put on my "game" face and kick some ass. Now that it's almost 2 years since surgery for me I'm eating more, which now makes me feel guilty. I still make good decisions most of the time but I can't just sit here and eat good but not move and expect to stay in the 140's. That's la la land and I have to get off my ass and make myself move and go to the pool or do something with cardio more often than I am doing at this time. I am going to the pool here in a few minutes to my water exercise class. I've been slacking and not going as much. There is also a dance aerobics class @ 8:30 on M/W/F that I used to love years ago. Think I'll try that next week and see if she can kick my ass. The hard part seem to be getting out of bed and out the door at 7am and making the 25 minute drive as I live in the sticks. Excuses, excuses. I made them my whole life and that's not who I want to be anymore. If I blow this I will really be depressed and very disappointed in myself to say the least. The other day a friend on Facebook added this quote and I liked it.

"We either make ourselves miserable, or we make ourselves strong. The amount of work is the same"

So in my life time I've personally had enough miserable and sadness and I'm not going to let myself slide down the same path. So get off your ass Susy and make yourself proud.

Still learning...still growing

rain, rain go away...

I took this today with my cell phone. It's been non stop raining for days. Almost 6 inches now over the last 3 days. Before that is was raining too. Today I lit candles @ 3:30 cause it's so dark in the house. Candles always make me feel better. Is it July yet? I'm not sure I'm going to survive another dreary winter. Blah...

Shop Goodwill

OK. I have to share. I just found a new web site. For those of you shrinking, already shrunk, have worn out clothes or just love great deals you have to check out this web site. As eBay it's a auction site. I've just searched a bit and see a few good deals. These are higher end, vintage donated items. Goodwill is auctioning items off rather then selling them at the local stores. If I have lots of time to look and go through stuff I love Goodwill and second hand shops. I've found some good deals and Goodwill. They also kept me dressed while I was shrinking through sizes.
Well now there on line...

Rainy day and the Aquarium...

It was pouring side ways today but we braved the rain, put on hats and went to our local aquarium, and had a good time!

ODDWATER
One of the exhibits @ the aquarium. All the tanks in this exhibits had blown glass made of bright colors with fish. It was beautiful! It was not ODD like the title says'.
Blown glass with sea horses.

I'm looking at Derrel cause I know I'm about to get the "BUNNY" ears over my head. Look at his face. GUILTY.

Remember those green beans I'm addicted too.

Silly questions...

Ok, I've worked off the Halloween candy and I am back in the 140's. This morning I was back to 148.2. I've been between 145-148 for 5 months or so. My life long goal is to stay in the 140's. I just hope I can maintain it for a life time. Even with a few pounds my jeans don't fit as well. It's scary to me. I've always been one to lose weight but end up fatter in the end. So I am very fearful to be honest. Still to this day when I have sweets, sugar and shit I want more the next day. I felt so bad eating bite size Halloween candy. Now granted I ate 5 or 6 pieces of Halloween candy, before I would of ate half the bag and finished it later. But I did feel guilty which then became fear. So this week I've ate like I always do and I do fine. So I think I'm skipping holidays and if candy comes with that holiday then for sure skip me. :) Having WLS is not the easy way out. Makes it easier, but I still battle thoughts and life long patterns. The battle is much, much easier but still a battle somedays and sometimes. So I work each day to change those life long patterns. By the foods I choose to put into my mouth to saying nice words out loud to myself.
YES I talk to myself. LOL :)

So anyway below is just a silly little quiz I did.

What are your nicknames?
derrelsangel, mom, hunny bunny.
What TV game show or reality show would you like to be on?
Price is Right. Yup! Think that would be a fun game show.
What was the first movie you bought in VHS or DVD?
I don't remember...
What is your favorite scent?
orange
If you had one million dollars to spend only on yourself, what would you spend it on?
We would travel. A new car (Chevy Tahoe or Toyota FJ Cruiser), clothes, shoes, finish working on our house and property and a chef or a maid.
What is one place you've visited, can't forget and want to go back to?
Vegas. We got married there and had a blast. If you have lots of money you can do just about anything there. I really want to go back to Vegas as that's where I had my surgery. Dr. Rutledge has a clinic each Tuesday and I would love to go back and show off and thank him. But there are many places’ I want to travel too and have not been able to go because of the all mighty dollar. Hawaii, Mexico, Australia, many on the list.
Do you generally think before you act, or act before you think?
Usually I think before I act.
Do you have a good body image?
I still see myself as fat, even with 150 pounds gone. I can now look in the mirror rather than look past it, but yes I’m still working on that one.
What is your favorite fruit?
Apples.
What websites do you visit daily?
FACEBOOK. Several times a day if I’m home. I’m a FACEBOOK junkie! I like the games, photos, my friends status updates, poking friends. I hate MySpace because every time I go there I get "page can not be displayed" over and over. I think there server is way over loaded as everyone has a MySpace page. It drives me crazy so I don't check MySpace often. I also check on several blogger friends daily. My FACEBOOK page- http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=544116917&ref=profile
Derrel and Susy's MySpace- http://www.myspace.com/derrelandsusy
What have you been seriously addicted to lately?
Garlic Green Beans from our favorite Cantonese restaurant Lee’s Wok. Who would think I’d ever sit there and eat just a plate of green beans???????????? I luv them!
What's the last song that got stuck in your head?
I wish I was a Oscar Mayer wiener….. LOL
What is your favorite thing to wear?
Gosh, just to get dressed these days in great. Even if I’m staying at home all day I put my jeans on cause they say size 4/6. he he
Do you think Rice Krispies are yummy?
There ok… Chex are better!
What would you do if you saw $100 lying on the ground?
Pick it up- SHOPPING!
What should you be doing right now?
Laundry and I should mop. But it’s never done anyway so it can wait.

Protein Balls...

I think I've told you about this recipe before, but just in case I haven't I'm sharing it. I got this recipe from life of a loser blog some time ago (http://inthelifeofaloser.blogspot.com/). Well it was raining this weekend, stuck in the house, candy every where, so I made something good for us. And there easy too. Remember the No Bake Cookies? I haven't made those in years, but the protein balls remind them of those.

No
Bake Protein Balls

1 cup of oatmeal
1 cup of chocolate protein
1 cup of peanut butter
1/4 cup of honey

Warm up the PB so it's runny and easier to manage, add in the ingredients and mix together and form into balls.
*(if the mix is to dry add a bit more honey until you can form them.)

Mmmm

I use:
Adam's natural peanut butter
old fashion oats (not quick oats)
EAS chocolate protein powder
They look like meatballs huh? You don't have to eat more than one because they fill you up because of all the protein. And the oatmeal fills you too. So 1 satisfies!
i think there YuMmY!

Candy, candy, candy...

I hate candy holidays! I love the 4th of July and Thanksgiving because there really is no big candy sales associated with those holidays. So a Reese's, a tootsie pop, and a chocolate bar later my ass weighs 151.4 this morning. Grrr
Even though there small bite size bars they sure do add up. We don't buy bags of candy around here. Now that Jonathan is not a little kid anymore we always buy him a big bag of which ever candy he wants for Halloween. Well since his costume was so cool he wanted to go out with his friends last night and hang out and go after some candy. So he did, and when he came home @ 9pm with a huge sack of all kinds of candy I guess I felt I HAD to try a little of this and try some of that. No dumping this time. As I have found that in the evening hours I can have more sugar as I have other foods in my tummy through out the day. But this morning I feel yucky and I've been to the rest room 3 times already. Ug What is wrong with me? Why can I just have none? So here is the accountable part of my blog and one reason I continue to blog....

When the scale goes up and the candy comes out who do you call ????????Ghost busters???????? LOL Nope, just blog and start today as a new day, hide the bag of candy in Jon's room and have a salad. :) Cause you know I know that the candy is still in the house and 2 or 3 pounds can not lead to 5 or 10 pounds. I WON'T GO BACK!
