Hair

I've noticed this past week I've been losing some hair in the shower. Not much, but I do get a few hairs wrapped around my fingers in the shower now. Well just hope it's not much, but I do have plenty of hair so I can spare SOME. I take several vitamins each day.

I take:
  • 1 fish oil
  • 3 multi vitamins through out the day (morning, mid day, evening)
  • 1 B-12
  • 1 vitamin E
  • and my prescribed medication for your gallbladder

At night I take

  • another gallbladder pill
  • 1 fish oil
  • antioxidant
  • 1 prilosec (recommended by my surgeon)
  • take my 3rd multi vitamin for that day

Think I'm taking plenty of vitamins. I am pretty good about taking my recommended vitamins. I started making it a habit and it caught on. I don't take them on a empty stomach and I put them in my pocket if I haven't eaten. I do forget somedays. I tried taking zinc for hair loss before I had trouble and it make me sick 2 times. So I'm not doing zinc anymore. I had read that a lot about others have trouble taking zinc as it can make your tummy upset or crampy. It did me...

The hair thing is pretty normal. So many people freak out about it..but it will grow back. Unless your hair is super thin to begin with (which I don't think it is from the pictures) then you'll be okay. Mine was longer and I cut it in a bob, because it was too tangled & I'd brush out too much hair trying to undo the tangles :)

No problems now - just fine my hair is frizzier than before.

Hey Susy,
My surgeon prescribes the b12, 1 250mcg pill twice a day. Lacking the b12 can cause anemia, just like low iron does. I've had a lot of trouble swallowing pills since the surgery, it just makes me really nervous which doesn't help them go down or stay down, so I had been crushing them and having them in yogurt. Eventually, I asked my surgeon if I could take both pills at the same time because I wasn't hungry at night and was missing the 2nd pill...and that was fine with him.
All that to say, I spoke to my surgeon about the b12 injections, and he told me to get a prescription from my GP.
I still haven't gotten all my energy back since the surgery so I'm hoping this will make a difference. I didn't want to start off this weight loss thing on the wrong foot, so I really wanted to get my vitamin situation resolved.
My GP wants me going for blood work next week, and then I go for my 3-month post-op blood work in 3wks, once I've started the shots, so we can compare.
Hope that helps!
